You Gave, We Got to Say YES

Just weeks after Live on the Lanai, students were already experiencing the impact.

One of our favorite parts of what we do is seeing generosity come full circle.

Just weeks after supporters gathered for our Live on the Lanai benefit concert in Santa Cruz, some of the generosity from that evening was already finding its way into the hands of local students.

Because you showed up, we were able to say yes.

This summer, Free Guitars 4 Kids partnered once again with Pajaro Valley Unified School District's Expanded Learning program to provide guitars for middle school students participating in summer school.

For many organizations, fundraising and impact can feel separated by months. We love that, thanks to incredible partners like PVUSD, and supporters like you, that's rarely the case for us.

The need is already there.

The students are already showing up.

The teachers are already investing in them.

Sometimes what's missing is simply the instrument.

PVUSD's middle school summer program welcomed students from across the district with opportunities to continue learning through English, math, STEAM, physical education, art, and guitar. Eighth grade students participating in the guitar class had the opportunity to earn their very own guitar through consistent attendance, positive behavior, and active participation throughout the summer.

That's the kind of partnership we love.

The guitar isn't a reward for perfection. It's an invitation to keep growing.

Students learned foundational chords and songs during the program, and many will have opportunities to continue playing through guitar classes offered at their middle schools or future Expanded Learning programs.

We've had the privilege of partnering with PVUSD on several initiatives over the years, and every time we're reminded why these relationships matter so much. Their team consistently creates environments where students feel encouraged, challenged, and supported. They understand that meaningful opportunities don't happen by accident. They happen because caring educators continue showing up day after day.

At FG4K, we often say we already know where the guitars can go. We simply need the resources to say yes.

This is exactly what that looks like.

You gave.

Together, we gave right back.

And somewhere in the Pajaro Valley, a student is heading home this summer with more than a guitar. They're heading home with a new skill, a creative outlet, and an opportunity that will last long after summer school has ended.

That's the kind of turnaround generosity was meant to have.
