Donate Blood / Give A Guitar
What if donating blood could do more than save a life?
What if it could inspire one?
This fall, Free Guitars 4 Kids (FG4K) is proud to partner with Bloodworks Northwest, Top Pot Doughnuts, Where the Heart Lives, and The Residency to launch a one-of-a-kind initiative that unites generosity, music, and mentorship.
Together, we’re turning community giving into community transformation.
The Big Idea
Music’s In Our Blood 2025 is a first-of-its-kind collaboration that connects the life-giving act of blood donation with the life-changing power of music.
For every blood donation made at a participating Top Pot Doughnuts location or at My Voice Music in Portland, a guitar — and a path to mentorship — will be unlocked for a young person in the Pacific Northwest.
This is FG4K’s largest giveaway ever in the region:
Up to 100 guitars will be placed in the hands of local youth who might otherwise never have that chance.
More Than a Guitar — A Pathway
At FG4K, we believe the guitar is more than an instrument — it’s a vessel for life. It’s a bridge to confidence, creativity, and connection.
That’s why this initiative goes beyond gifting guitars. It’s about building pathways for young musicians to thrive.
Through our partners at Where the Heart Lives and The Residency, each student will receive:
Music lessons
Trusted adult relationships
Guidance and mentorship
Community and support
And thanks to our friends at the Los Angeles College of Music, students across the country can also access online lessons, expanding opportunities for ongoing growth and inspiration.
“A pint of blood and a six-string aren’t so different — both carry lifeblood.”
— Ben Dudley, Executive Director, FG4K
The Power of Partnership
This initiative is made possible through the collaboration of incredible community partners:
Top Pot Doughnuts, a longtime supporter of Music’s In Our Blood and beloved Northwest community hub
Bloodworks Northwest, transforming blood donations into opportunities for youth
Where the Heart Lives and The Residency, building mentorship and music education programs
And with support from artists like Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Kim Virant, and Jeff Fielder (Indigo Girls, Mark Lanegan’s Band) — all lending their voices to this movement
“It starts with a donut, a donation, and a dream.”

Your Impact
Every blood donor gives twice:
Once through blood, saving lives
Once through music, inspiring lives
Together, we’re giving kids the tools and support they need to discover their voice, build confidence, and connect with their community.
“This is what generosity sounds like.”
